Natalie Ridgeway
Executive Officer
Natalie joined COPE in 2010 as the Operations Manager. Now Executive Officer, her main responsibilities are to implement the strategic goals and objectives of COPE, and support the Trustee Board and the activities of Council, overseeing the delivery and quality of all resources and services. Natalie previously worked for the BMJ Specialty Journals (1997-2004) and The Lancet (2005-2010). Natalie is a full time employee of COPE.
Alysa Levene
Operations Manager
Alysa joined COPE in 2022 and is responsible for the operational side of the organisation. Previously she worked as an academic historian and has published on the history of childhood, family, medicine and cake. Alysa is a full time employee of COPE.
David Summers
Senior Membership Administrator
David joined COPE in 2018 and he coordinates the assessment process for potential members of COPE. David has worked in publishing and communications teams in the non-profit sector for over 15 years. His last role was in the editorial team at Amnesty International. David is a full time employee of COPE.
Bonnie Jacobs
Graphic Designer
Bonnie is responsible for design and branding to ensure a consistent visual message and identity across all COPE communications and resources.
Prior to joining COPE in 2017 (in a freelance capacity), Bonnie worked at several design and digital agencies in the UK. Her role involved producing designs for a range of applications across a variety of market sectors. She was the lead creative on the RNLI, Sunseeker International and Direct Line accounts.
Christina McGuire
Web Manager
Christina manages the development and maintenance of the COPE website. Working with members of the COPE Team and digital agency, her focus is on coordinating and managing development that supports COPE’s strategic objectives.
Christina is a freelance digital developer and project manager. Before joining COPE (in a freelance capacity) in 2020, she worked at universities, the Medical Research Council, and the Francis Crick Institute.
Iratxe Puebla
Facilitation and Integrity Officer
Iratxe is COPE’s Facilitation and Integrity Officer and in this role she supports the administration of the Facilitation and Integrity subcommittee. Iratxe has been involved with COPE on a freelance basis since 2012.
Iratxe moved from research into publishing in 2003 when she joined the editorial team for the BMC series journals. She then became a freelance editor working for several organisations before joining the editorial team of the journal PLOS ONE where she became Deputy Editor-in-Chief. Currently, Iratxe is Associate Director for ASAPbio, a nonprofit with a mission to accelerate innovation and transparency in life sciences communication.
Linda Gough
Administrator for universities and research institutes
Linda has worked with COPE since 2006, in a previous role as COPE Administrator. This new role is dedicated specifically to supporting COPE membership for universities and research institutions on a freelance basis. She also works as a freelance copy editor.
Sarah Gillmore
Engagement & Outreach Officer
Sarah promotes resources and learning about publication ethics issues to COPE members and the wider community. Her previous experience includes marketing for a renewable energy company, digital marketing for an organic grocery delivery company and marketing roles in journal and book publishing. Sarah is a freelance marketing consultant.
